About Tony Thorne

After completing my bachelor of management studies from Waikato University, my first job was as a tax consultant in the tax team at Deloitte which provided me with a strong knowledge of New Zealand tax working with large Corporates. I then worked at a general Chartered Accountancy firm to further my accounting skills and to apply by tax knowledge to small taxpayers. After gaining that valuable tax and accounting experience, I began Thorne Accounting in 2004 where I was operating as a sole accountant.

Due to growth, my wife Erin (also an accountant!) started work for Thorne Accounting in 2008. On the birth of our second son in 2011, I hired an employee to take over Erin's workload. I do look forward to when Erin can return to Thorne Accounting on a full time basis in a few years.

I turned 32 in 2012 so I still consider myself young and enthusiastic so I have plenty of energy to put into the business and clients. The majority of my spare time is spent playing with my three young children. I do manage to find a few hours a week to play soccer for Western Springs in the over 30's division and love to go snowboarding when I find the time.
